Pastry Chef, 2941 Restaurant
A native of Northern Virginia, Caitlin began her pastry career in New Orleans after attending Tulane University. She started working in the kitchen of Sucré under Executive Pastry Chef Tariq Hanna on a whim, and never looked back. After completing formal training at the French Pastry School in Chicago, she returned to Northern Virginia and began working at critically-acclaimed 2941 Restaurant under former Pastry Chef Anthony Chavez, first as a pastry cook, then as pastry sous chef. Caitlin took the position of Pastry Chef following the renovation of 2941 in early 2012. She enjoys combining her classic French training with both traditional American desserts and the Mediterranean influence of 2941 as one of the most celebrated upscale casual dining experiences in the DC area.
In April 2013, Dysart was named as one of 50 Pastry Chefs in the U.S. to be nominated for FOOD & WINE magazine’s The People’s Best New Pastry Chef 2013 Award. In 2014 Caitlin was awarded one of the highest honors in the DC area’s hospitality world, after winning Pastry Chef to the Year at RAMW’s RAMMY awards hosted in Washington DC on June 22nd, 2014. Dysart participated alongside Executive Chef Bertrand Chemel on behalf of 2941 Restaurant at the ‘Virginia Rising Stars’ dinner hosted at the James Beard House in NYC on September 9th, and was later named as a Semifinalist by the James Beard Foundation Awards in 2015 for 'Outstanding Pastry Chef' in the US.
